Aftercare

All A&L windows and doors are designed to meet high performance standards. To ensure your A&L products remain in perfect condition and function accordingly, follow this simple care and adjustment guide. All of our windows and doors are designed to maintain optimum performance if cared for accordingly.

Care & Adjustment for A&L Sliding Doors

To care for your corner doors and other A&L sliding doors follow these steps

  • Track - Ensure impurities are removed from the sliding door track.
  • Operation -If your door is scraping on its track, do not operate. Operation of doors in this instance will cause damage and lead to roller failure.
  • Roller Adjustment - If you need to adjust the roller, slide until almost closed. Ensure the door is plumb to the frame and clear of the track. To adjust one or two rollers, turn one or both of the adjustment screws. A clockwise turn will raise the door, anti-clockwise will lower.
  • Keeper Alignment - If you need to adjust the vertical alignment of your door, do so by raising or lowering the latch keeper, which has slide fixings.
  • Latch Adjustment - you can increase or reduce play between the door and its frame if needed.

Care & Adjustment for A&L Sliding Windows

To keep sliding windows operating smoothly, please follow these steps:

  • Track - As with sliding doors, ensure that the window track has been thoroughly cleaned.
  • Drainage - A&L sliding windows are designed to allow water to drain from holes beneath the track. Ensure the drain holes are clear so that the window can function accordingly.

  • Sash Guides - Sash slides on A&L windows and doors are height adjustable. To adjust the height on one or both of the slides, remove them and rotate higher or lower.
  • Sash Catch - This handle is designed to be squeezed as the sash is pulled open. The sash catch withdraws the latch blade from locking grooves in the window mullion.
    • The sash catch height can be adjusted by moving it up or down the lock style. A lower catch position can enhance the operation of tall, narrow sashes which have a natural tendency to tilt when opened.
  • Security - The sash will only operate effectively when the lock style is parallel or near to the mullion. If you wish to plumb the lock, adjust sash slides by removing and rotating higher or lower.
  • Sliding Performance - The slides on your A&L windows are manufactured from a self-lubricating nylon. Although self-reliant, these windows can absorb plaster and mortar dust, drying the surface. To rectify, spray the cleaned window track with a silicone lubricant. Sash rails also have fitted seals that you can fix by scraping a blunt knife blade along the felt seal to dislodge grit.
